What we collect

• Account details - your email address, your display name, and your unique @handle (your display name and handle are visible to friends you connect with).
• Date of birth - to confirm you are old enough to use Wanderoo (13 or over) and to celebrate your birthday in the app. It is private to your account and never shown to other people.
• Photos and sightings - the wildlife photos you capture and the catalog entries built from them.
• Location, only if you allow it - each sighting has its own location switch. Turn it off and no coordinates are stored for that sighting.
• Feedback you send - your note plus basic context (the screen you were on, app version, device type).

How we use it

Photos are sent to our AI provider once, to produce your identification. Sightings, photos, and any locations are stored to power your private catalog, map, and progress. We don't sell your data, show ads, or share your catalog with anyone.

Where it lives

Your data is stored with our hosting provider (Supabase) behind row-level security - only your signed-in account can read your catalog. Coordinates and personal data never appear in URLs.

Your controls

• Toggle location per sighting, any time you catalog.
• Delete individual sightings from their detail page.
• Delete your account from Settings - profile, sightings, and photos are permanently erased. Feedback notes you sent may be kept to improve Wanderoo, detached from your deleted account.

Age requirement

Wanderoo is intended for people aged 13 and over. When you sign up we ask for your date of birth to confirm this; a birth date under 13 is declined and no account is created. Consistent with COPPA, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Invites

If you invite someone by email, we send one message on your behalf with your name and a link to join. Recipients can unsubscribe from invite emails in one click; we keep only a one-way hashed record of unsubscribed addresses so we can honor that choice, never the address itself.
